Chistotel suspension adut cat 5 ml (against worms)
Chistotel suspension adut cat is a complex anthelmintic medicine for puppies and kittens older than 3 weeks of age.
The suspension is prescribed to cats and kittens from the age of 3 weeks for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes in intestinal forms of nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, hookworm, trichocephalosis), cestodes (teniidosis, dipylidiosis, echinococcosis, diphyllobothriasis, mesocystoidosis), and associative nematode-cestodosis infestations.
Indications: helminthiasis.
Key features:
- A wide range of actions: roundworms, tapeworms.
- Kittens older than 3 weeks are allowed.
- The drug can be added to the feed or given separately.
The combination of praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate, which are part of the drug, provides a wide range of its anthelmintic effects on round and ribbon helminths parasitizing the gastrointestinal tract in dogs and cats, including Toxocara canis, Toxocara mistax, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis, Ancylostoma caninum, Echinococcus granulosus, Alveococus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobotrium latum, and Multiceps multiceps.
Pyrantel pamoate is a compound of the pyrimidine group, active against sexually mature and immature nematodes, its mechanism of action is based on the blockade of nerve impulse transmission in neuromuscular synapses by depolarization of muscle cell membranes, which causes paralysis of the muscular system of nematodes; pyrantel is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged effect on helminths in the intestine; it is excreted from the body in mostly unchanged (93%) with faeces.
Praziquantel is a compound of the pyrazinisoquinoline group, active against sexually mature and immature cestodes; its mechanism of action is based on inducing the breakdown of tegument and inhibiting fumarate reductase, persistent depolarization of helminth muscle cells, and impaired energy metabolism, which causes paralysis and death of cestodes and promotes their excretion from the gastrointestinal tract. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching its maximum concentration in blood plasma after 1-3 hours, and is distributed in animal organs and tissues; It binds to serum blood proteins (70-80%), is partially metabolized in the liver, is re-secreted into the intestine, and is excreted mainly in the urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours.
The suspension in 1 ml contains as active ingredients: pyrantel pamoate - 50 mg, praziquantel - 10 mg, and as auxiliary substances sorbic acid, bentonite, xanthan gum, cream syrup, and distilled water.
The drug is administered orally, individually, in the morning feeding with a small amount of food, or forcibly into the root of the tongue using a dosing syringe at a dose of 1 ml per 2 kg of animal weight.
For therapeutic purposes, deworming of animals is carried out according to indications. In case of severe invasion, it is recommended to repeat the treatment after 10-14 days.
For preventive purposes, deworming of animals is carried out once every 3 months at a therapeutic dose, as well as before each vaccination for 10-14 days.
The suspension bottle should be thoroughly shaken before each use.
The drug is stored in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, in a dry place protected from direct sunlight, separate from food and feed, at a temperature from 0 °C to 25 °C. The drug should be stored in places inaccessible to children.
A contraindication to use is the increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug, including those in the anamnesis. The drug should not be used in exhausted, infectious diseases, or recovering animals. If necessary, deworming of pregnant and lactating females is carried out under the supervision of a veterinarian 3 weeks before the expected delivery and 2-3 weeks after delivery. The use of anthelmintic suspension in kittens under 3 weeks of age is prohibited.
