Selafort cat dog 0- 2.5 kg (against fleas, ticks, and worms)
Selafort cat dog 0- 2.5 kg-spot on drops on the withers to protect dogs and cats from major external and internal parasites at the same time.
It is used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes for entomoses caused by fleas, lice, and hair eaters, otodectosis, sarcoptosis, demodicosis, notohedrosis, hookworm, and toxocariasis, as well as for the prevention of dirofilariasis.
Selafort belongs to the antiparasitic drugs of the macrocyclic lactone group. The active ingredient of the drug, selamectin, has a wide range of systemic nematodicidal, insecticidal, and acaricidal effects. It is active against nematodes, insects, and sarcoptoid mites that parasitize dogs and cats; possessing larvicidal and ovicidal properties, it interrupts the insect development cycle. The pharmacokinetic properties of the drug ensure good absorption of selamectin from the site of application, long-term maintenance of therapeutic concentrations in animal organs and tissues, which ensures the destruction of parasites and protects animals from reinvasion for a month. The mechanism of action of selamectin is its ability to bind to the receptors of cells (muscle and nervous tissue) of parasites, increasing the permeability of membranes to chlorine ions, which causes a blockade of the conduction of nerve and muscle cells in nematodes, insects, ticks, and leads to paralysis and death of parasites. Given that mammalian selamectin-sensitive receptors are localized only in the central nervous system, and selamectin does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier, poisoning of dogs and cats is unlikely.
Selafort, in the form of a 6% and 12% solution as an active substance contains selamectin 60 mg/ml and 120 mg/ml, respectively, and excipients: isopropyl alcohol, butylhydroxytoluene, and dimethyl sulfoxide.
Selafort 6% solution of: 0.25 ml (pink cap), 0.75 ml (turquoise cap), 1 ml (gray-brown cap); Selafort 12% solution of: 0.25 ml (purple cap), 0.5 ml (orange cap), 1 ml (red cap), 2 ml (green cap), 3.0 ml (dark blue cap).
Selafort is used for dogs and cats by applying it once to dry, undamaged skin using pipettes of various packaging. Before using the drug, the pipette is removed from the bag, the tip of the pipette is pierced with an inverted cap and, spreading the hair between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck, the contents of the pipette are squeezed directly onto the animal's skin. The dose of the drug (pipette volume) is selected, taking into account the type and weight of the animal:
